History
Scott Cornelius started on the ground floor of politics: grassroots activism. Shortly after the launch of the first effort to incorporate a City of St. George, Scott joined the grassroots opposition to the incorporation and would go on to be one of the most active volunteers in the effort to defeat the proposed city. After the first St. George petition was defeated in 2015, Scott completed his studies at LSU and then ran for the Metro Council seat vacated in 2016 by John Delgado. Scott decided to stay in the race after the then-President of the EBR School Board, Barbara Freiberg, announced her run for the same seat, but unsurprisingly lost that race to Ms. Freiberg.
It was after the 2016 elections, however, when Scott Cornelius entered the realm of professional politics. After helping to run the grassroots Indivisible Baton Rouge group for about a year, Scott entered professional politics with experiences including Campaign Manager for DeWitt for Congress in 2018. In total, Scott has been involved either as a volunteer or paid staffer for ten campaigns since 2014.
